i can’t see this taking off anytime soon.
who pays to build the infrastructure?
who pays for maintenance?
high risk of vandalism
too many poles by roadside , all it takes is one car to run off road and slam into one.
might look good in theory , not so good in reality.

Sure, there are some obstacles.. But they are actually building this in Sweden now, just ten kilometres at first but there are plans to build a 110 kilometre stretch.

This already exists all over the world. We just call them cargo trains.

Cargo trains can’t do door to door delivery though.

And they don’t need to because that’s what normal trucks are for. If you build a network of powerlines next to highways you just increase truck traffic on the roads while still having the same idea as trains.

It depends on where you live though, here in Norway this would be a great thing since the only places that can unload cargo trains are the big cities.
